The Difference

What is different about a private GP appointment

The single biggest difference is time, and, just as much, being genuinely listened to. Most people do not arrive with a single problem: they arrive with a symptom, a worry, a family history and a question they were not sure was worth asking.

An appointment with Dr Vimple is long enough to take the whole history, examine you properly, arrange the right investigations and explain the findings in language that makes sense. You leave understanding what is happening and what happens next.

The second difference is continuity. You see the same doctor each time, which is what allows patterns to be recognised early rather than treated as unrelated episodes.

The standard Dr Vimple works to is not the one she is required to meet. It is the one she would want for her own family, and that is the measure every appointment is held to.

What to Expect

How an appointment works

01

Book your appointment

Contact the clinic to arrange a consultation in Canary Wharf or Orpington, in person or by video. Same-day appointments are usually possible on working days, subject to availability.

02

The consultation

A full history, a proper examination, and time to ask everything you came to ask. Blood tests are usually taken the same day and scans arranged where clinically indicated.

03

Your plan

Clear findings explained in plain language, a written plan you can act on, prescriptions where needed, and onward referral to a trusted specialist if that is the right step.

Common Questions

Answered before you ask.

How quickly can I be seen?

Same-day appointments are usually possible on working days, subject to availability. If your problem is urgent, call the clinic directly and we will find you the earliest slot. This service is not for emergencies: if you need urgent medical advice, call NHS 111, and in an emergency call 999 or go to A&E.

Do I need a referral to see a private GP?

No. You can book directly, with no referral and no registration process. If you then need specialist care, Dr Vimple will refer you and coordinate it.

How long is an appointment?

Considerably longer than an NHS appointment. There is time to take a full history, examine you properly and explain what is going on — which is usually the difference between managing a symptom and understanding it.

Will I see the same doctor each time?

Yes. Continuity is the point. Seeing the same doctor over time is what makes it possible to spot a pattern rather than treat each episode in isolation.

Can I have blood tests on the same day?

In most cases yes, and results typically return within one to three working days depending on the test. Dr Vimple will call you to explain them rather than sending a set of numbers without context.

Can you arrange scans?

Yes. Consultations in Canary Wharf and Orpington have same-building access to MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray, subject to clinical assessment.

Do you see children?

Yes — children's health is part of the practice, from acute illness to developmental concerns.

Can you help with menopause and HRT?

Yes. Menopause and perimenopause care, including discussion of HRT where appropriate, is a core part of the women's health service.

Can you refer me back to the NHS?

A private GP can write to your NHS GP with your consent so that your records stay complete, but cannot refer directly into NHS specialist waiting lists. Dr Vimple will always be clear about which route makes sense for you.

Which languages are available?

English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
