About

A doctor's approach. A longer view of health.

Dr Vimple Bhalani qualified in medicine (MBBS, Sardar Patel University) in Gujarat, India, in 1997, and began her career as a doctor in the Indian Army Medical Corps: formative years that taught her discipline, resilience and the habit of caring for the whole person in demanding circumstances.

Where science meets stillness.

Her journey

From the Army Medical Corps to London and Kent.

She moved to the United Kingdom in 2003, trained on the Bromley Vocational Training Scheme, gained full GMC registration in 2005, and joined the GP Register in 2007. In 2016 she added a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Primary Care from the University of Westminster, and she has taught and mentored colleagues throughout her career. She spent years as an NHS GP partner before leaving the partnership for private practice, working with Nuffield Health in Canary Wharf, where she carried out executive health assessments, and with Babylon.

Today she practises privately across London and Kent. She is a Clinical Lead in Canary Wharf, serves as GP Divisional Lead on the Medical Advisory Committee at KIMS Hospitals, and is co-founder of the Health & Aesthetic Clinic in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, a CQC-registered, doctor-led clinic she helped establish over a decade ago.

In her own words

Why I practise the way I do

Thirty years of general practice teaches you something that is difficult to learn any other way: how illness actually arrives - rarely all at once. Usually slowly, over years, indicated by things people assume are simply part of getting older: the sleep that stopped being restful, the weight that settled around the middle, the blood pressure that crept up, the stress that never quite switched off.

By the time those become a diagnosis, the conversation is about management. Caught earlier, it is about prevention. That is the whole argument for the way I practise: enough time in the consultation to hear your full story, the right investigations rather than every investigation, and a plan written in understandable language you can act on.

The physiology of stillness

Alongside medicine, I am a Sivananda-trained yoga teacher, in Hatha and Kundalini, with long training in breathwork and meditation. I do not treat this as a sideline. The physiology of stress — the sympathetic “fight or flight” response, the vagus nerve, heart-rate variability — sits underneath a great deal of the chronic disease I have managed across three decades.

Most patients have been told to “manage their stress” and left to work out what that means. My mind–body work exists to make that instruction concrete, physiological and teachable, held to the same standard of evidence as everything else I do. Read more about that here.
